  • Go For No – Law of Attraction Meet

    Go For No Authors Andrea Waltz & Richard Fenton

    Go For No Authors Andrea Waltz & Richard Fenton

    “Go For NO” authors Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz popped in for a surprise visit today at the Thursday Member Focus Group meeting.  We planned to have a book discussion about their book and we were pleasantly surprised that the authors took time to attend and share some of the their thoughts about the book and the process of going for NO.

    When I first became aware of the book via my friend Pat Herrera (thanks Pat!) we thought about asking them to come to our meeting however the authors are in high demand for training and keynote speaking and their time is limited.  Our group is a volunteer group as are the presenters.

    So I thought.. “wouldn’t it be nice if the authors came to our meeting?” and let it go…

    I had a big smile on my face when I walked in the room and saw the authors Richard Fenton & Andrea Waltz chatting with some early attendees! My intentions realized and the authors gave us 20 minutes of their time and some great tips and a coffee mug that says GO FOR NO!

    Afterwards we enjoyed a lively discussion and the whole room was abuzz with energy — this was the most fun I have had in ages!

    Get your book and DVD as soon as possible.  The lessons are so useful even for folks that are no specifically in sales and marketing! Everybody faces rejection and hears the word “no” and some times we let that stop us.  ”Go For No” teaches us to not settle and embrace the process.

  • Go For No

    “Go For No” is one of the best books I have ever read and probably the most influential in my life and in the lives of many others.   How often do we need to ask people for a decision – to buy our product or service for example, and open up to either a yes answer or a NO.  Most people really don’t like rejection!  -  BUT rejection is something we all face.   “Go For No” re-frames this transaction in such a way to take the sting out of the answer and allow you to be more effective and enjoy the process a whole lot more.  Check out the book “Go For No” by Richard Fenton and Andrea Waltz and see what happens for you.

  • Appreciation. What is it really?

    Appreciation.  What is it really?

    How about this definition of the word “appreciation”?

    “to see the nature of”  or “to increase the value of”

    When you start where you are and you are appreciating where you are – right NOW, you can more fully understand where you are.  Often when we do this kind of self analysis it is easy to be harsh and unfair and critical in ways we would never be if it were anybody else!

    To fully appreciate all the parts of our NOW means acknowledging not just the stuff we would like to be different but also the parts that we really like and appreciate.  There is much about where we are and who we are right NOW that is really wonderful and we want to keep.  And to appreciate this more fully try making a list of the things you really like or appreciate about your life right now.

    Go ahead and jot them down. I’ll wait….  :)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Got your list? Great!
    A fun daily exercise is to list 5 things you really appreciate about your life each day on a Post-It note and stick it on your computer monitor or similar place where you rest your eyes frequently throughout the day.  Each day write a new appreciation Post-It and save the previous ones in a special spot.  (Some time in the distant future you may want to read through these, as they may delight you!)
    I believe that as one more fully appreciates their life in a daily focused way, with greater consciousness, they automatically “increase the value of” their life and of course the lives of those that live around them.
    I appreciate those that invest the time to read my blog …. and I hope and my intent is to “increase the value” of your life experience.
  • Start where you are
    Start where you are. It’s enough and it is all you can do.
    And it is enough.  And it is all you can do.  And it’s enough!
    Well, duh! you think. But how many people miss this important first acknowledgement of all journeys and begin with a handicap?
    But when you think about it, how can you possibly find your way to New York if you don’t first acknowledge the fact that you are in Iowa?
    Can you imagine wanting to travel to New York and not being able to pinpoint where you are starting from?
    How would that work?
    Of course the answer is — it wouldn’t.  At some point we begin the journey. But whether we start from a real place that easily facilitates a plan from point A to point B, or we make something about about the place we are starting from.  And that made up place probably doesn’t serve us.
  • Be kind to yourself
    During today’s radio show LEAVE YOUR FAT BEHIND, Mark, Soul, Dana and I talked about the importance of being kind to yourself and making sure to practice daily self care. Because when you are not taking care of yourself, to ensure you are 100%, you don’t have 100% of yourself to give to others and there are loved ones depending on us to be there for them — 100 per cent.
    LEAVE YOUR FAT BEHIND is on Blog Talk Radio every Monday at 6 PM Pacific time. To access it live or to listen to the archives
  • Your “WHY”- What really inspires you?
    What is YOUR “WHY” ?
    What inspires you when times get tough? What really motivates you to do what you do?
    Finding out your “WHY” is a powerful personal development tool.
    For any activity (like a career or vocation) that you have a major investment of your self, it is helpful to answer the following questions to further clarify and discover more about exactly WHY you are doing this.
    Inevitably there are times of struggle and things don’t always go smoothly.  Frustration and non-useful self-talk can set it.  Matthew Ferry calls it the “Drunk Monkey”.
    The voice inside our head — our “Monkey Mind” has been called other things by other people, but we all know this voice that insists that we can’t do something or shouldn’t do something that we want to do.  The voice is scared, and insistent that things remain safe and consistent.
    When your mind churns with non-useful self-talk, it is helpful to re-read your answers to your “WHY” questions.  This brings your attention back on your real intent and helps you refocus your energy on what you really want.
    If after doing this exercise you have feedback you are comfortable sharing, please comment below.   Some people have interesting experiences doing this exercise.
    So here are the questions.  Write down the first thing that comes to your mind. Don’t think about it -  just write down what flows out.
        1.  Why am I really doing this?
        2.  Who supports my success?
        3.  Who needs me to succeed?
        4.  Why me?
        5.  Why not me?
        6.  Why now?
